Design Theme
The prompt was to integrate Generative AI capability in existing digital product.

What is Reach AI
My teammate and I designed ReachAI, which is a chrome extension for Gmail that helps you write an email for the recruiters by considering your background and the requirements of the role you are applying for.

Extra Edge
It was fun designing this tool as it not only gave us opportunity to strategize design decisions in limited time but also think about some BIG questions regarding Human AI Interaction.

A high level answer to those questions came up with something that we read recently,

"Text generative AI is not a copy writer, but a new pen.

01.Problem
Writing effective emails to recruiters is a critical aspect of the job search process, but it can be a time-consuming task that poses several challenges. Furthermore, writing multiple emails to different recruiters can be a daunting task, especially if the job seeker is juggling other responsibilities. These challenges can lead to delays in the job search process and missed opportunities for candidates, making it essential to develop strategies and resources to streamline the email writing process and maximize their impact.
02.Empathize
Though we personally attended this problem, we wanted to talk to other users to make sure we are targeting the right problem quickly as we were on a time crunch. We talked to couple of people who are on job/internship hunt to gather the pain points to curate the solution more closer to the actual problem that users are facing.
After talking to a couple of users we discovered the following pain points.
1
Challenging to communicate effectively
2
Time consuming
3
Missing out on opportunities
Based on the designathon theme and problem the solution we came up with is to address the time-consuming and challenging nature of writing effective emails to recruiters can be done by integrating AI technology into Gmail. With AI-powered email writing, job seekers can quickly and easily generate high-quality emails that are tailored to specific job postings and recruiters.
03.Challenges, assumptions and questions
We tried to find the challenges for the solution we came up with and the assumptions that we made in the process and questions that we had at this stage.

By doing this we had more clarity on what we were trying to solve and identify the scope and think through some major questions and challenges we might face by using integrating AI into gmail for email writing.
04.User story Map
Next, we focused on defining the task flows and determining the best approach for integrating AI into Gmail to streamline the email writing process, and identifying the key features and functionalities that would be necessary for an effective solution.
We catogerized the solution into 3 three main tasks
01.setting up the profile for AI
02.Writing an email using AI
03.Editing the mail that AI has generated

05a.Design
Then utilizing the different opportunities, we started to look at different UI to design the best visualization of integrating AI into gmail. As we were designing it for gmail, we took google's design as inspiration and tried to inculcate google's minimalistic and simple flow into our design. We used crazy 8s to quickly brainstorm our design ideas.

Key features
User control and freedom
After the first draft, users will have the option to tweak with the content conveniently.

Highlighting the edited part of the email, so that user knows where the changes have been done to the previously generated text.
Feedback

Ability to dictate content for people with vision and motor disabilities and ability listen to the generated content.
Accessibility
06. User Testing
As we only had 7hrs for the whole design process, we did a quick testing session with two of our friends who are currently applying for jobs. And the insights from the testing session are,
"I absolutely love it. I want someone to develop this right now. This would be so useful for me."
-kriti
1.Found it difficult to find the purpose title.

2.Mentioned that having placeholder prompts would help them know what they have to do.

Learnings and future scope
1.This is my first design contest I loved working under such a short time limit by speeding up the design process and improve my critical thinking ability.
2.Due to the time constraint we didn't get much time to focus on the UI part more, we will work towards the improvement of the design based on the feedback from the judges and user testing and also will take further testing sessions with users.
